The Semantics and Knowledge Innovation Lab (SKIL) is one of the open innovation lab of Telecom Italia, the largest Italian carrier. SKIL is co-located at the EIT ICT Labs Italian node in Trento. It focuses on the research and development of heterogeneous Big Data solution. Most of the activities are based on mobile network data (CDRs) along with other geo-referred data stream (e.g. social media). In 2014 SKIL organized the first Telecom Italia Big Data Challenge (www.telecomitalia.com/bigdatachallenge).
